About The Bike Guy
The Bike Guy is owned and operated by James Thornton — a Cytech Level 2 certified mobile bike mechanic with extensive hands-on experience servicing and repairing all types of bicycles. James provides high-quality, convenient bike maintenance in the comfort of your home, workplace or roadside — no need to load your bike in the car or leave it at a shop for days.
With a fully equipped mobile workshop, James carries professional-grade tools, spare parts and consumables to handle most jobs on the spot. He takes time to understand what you need from your bike, explains what work is required in plain English, and only recommends what's genuinely necessary — no upselling, no unnecessary parts replacements.
The Bike Guy covers Staffordshire Moorlands and Cheshire East, handling everything from routine servicing and safety checks to complex drivetrain overhauls, wheel building, suspension servicing, and full bike builds. Whether it's a daily commuter that needs a tune-up, a mountain bike ready for trail season, or a child's bike that's been sitting in the shed — James has the skills, tools and experience to get it running smoothly.
If a repair can't be completed on site (rare, but it happens), James offers a collect-and-return service — picking your bike up from your door and returning it ready to ride.
