How it works

Mobile Bike Mechanic is a growing network of independent, self-employed bike mechanics. Each area manager takes ownership of their county — you get your own profile and listing on our website, all local enquiries are directed to you, and you handle the bookings, jobs and customer relationships yourself.

Think of it as running your own mobile bike repair business, but with the marketing, website, SEO and brand already done for you.

  • Your own county — one mechanic per area, so you own your patch with no competition from us
  • Work under your own brand — use your own trading name alongside the Mobile Bike Mechanic network
  • Handle your own enquiries — all local leads go directly to you via your own email and phone number
  • Set your own prices — you decide what to charge and keep what you earn
  • Set your own hours — full-time, part-time, weekends only — completely up to you
  • Your own profile page — a dedicated page on our website showcasing you, your qualifications and your area
  • SEO & marketing included — we build and maintain local area pages that rank on Google for your county
  • Low monthly partnership fee — affordable fixed fee, no commission, no percentage of your earnings

What you get

When you join as an area manager, we set everything up for you:

  • Dedicated mechanic profile page — your photo, qualifications, bio and contact details
  • Local area pages — SEO-optimised pages for every town in your county, driving Google traffic to you
  • Direct enquiry routing — customers in your area contact you directly, not a call centre
  • Ongoing SEO & content — we keep building content and improving rankings for your area
  • Brand assets — use the Mobile Bike Mechanic brand alongside your own
  • Network support — advice, best practices and peer support from other mechanics in the network

Personal qualities

  • Entrepreneurial mindset — you're building your own business, not just taking a job
  • Friendly and professional — you'll be the face of the brand in your area

Frequently asked questions

Is this a franchise?

No. This is a partnership, not a franchise. There's a small, affordable monthly fee to cover your website presence, SEO, local area pages and ongoing marketing — but there are no upfront costs, no commission, and no percentage taken from your earnings. Everything you charge your customers, you keep.

Do I work under your brand or my own?

Both. You'll have your own profile on mobilebikemechanic.uk showcasing your brand name, but you're free to use your own trading name, van livery, business cards and social media. Customers will find you through our site and contact you directly.

How do enquiries work?

When a customer in your county submits an enquiry or calls, it goes directly to you — your email, your phone number. You handle the booking, do the job, and collect payment. We don't take a cut of your earnings.

What does "one mechanic per county" mean?

Each county is assigned to one area manager only. Once you've claimed your area, no other mechanic on our network will cover it. This gives you exclusivity and means all local traffic from our website goes to you.

Do I need to be Cytech qualified?

Cytech certification is preferred as it gives customers confidence, but it's not essential. If you have significant hands-on experience and can demonstrate your skills, we're happy to talk. We can also discuss routes to getting Cytech certified.

Do I need my own tools and transport?

Yes — as a mobile mechanic you'll need a professional toolkit and reliable vehicle. A van or estate car with a mobile workshop setup is ideal, but any reliable transport with space for tools and a workstand will work.

How much can I earn?

That's entirely up to you. You set your own prices and keep 100% of what you charge. Most mobile bike mechanics charge between £30–£80 per hour depending on the job. With a full diary, area managers typically earn significantly more than employed workshop mechanics.

I'm already self-employed — can I still join?

Absolutely. Many of our area managers already run their own mobile repair business. Joining the network simply gives you an additional source of leads and a professional web presence without the hassle of building your own website and SEO from scratch.

What if my area isn't listed?

Get in touch anyway. We're open to expanding anywhere in the UK. If there's demand in your area, we'll build the pages and start driving traffic to you.
